Last week was a pivotal week by my reading. A number of trends were broken, and it seems the market is pricing in the end of rate rises. They could well be wrong and the week ahead will also be pivotal with the FOMC meeting mid-week. Time will tell.

After a week of choppy directionless trading the market took a lead from a WSJ article hinting that the Fed is close to finishing their rate rises. 75 basis points is locked in for the meeting next week, but after the article suggests the Fed will slow down. The Central Banks raise rates with the Aussies dragging its heels stubbornly. Both the BOC and ECB raised by 75% with hawkish commentary signalling higher rates to come, whilst the RBA raised by 50% with Lowe hinting that the next move will be smaller and slower, putting him out of line with the majors.

US stocks ended the week on a downer. It looked like late in the week it had stopped right on the 61.8% Fib level and found support, maybe even a bounce. That seemed to be confirmed on Friday when US Non Farm Payrolls came in with mixed results.
